Hervé Léger Spring 2013

Earlier today the Hervé Léger Spring 2013 collection was revelled at New York fashion week, as you’ll know if you’re keeping up with the latest action. Stepping away from the classic bandage dresses originally created for Hervé Léger by Max Azria, although not completely abandoning body con dresses, the collection was a truly amazing mix of classic images and contemporary additions. As I was watching the live stream I took some pictures on my phone, so obviously they aren’t great quality, but I wanted to post about this show as soon as possible. I’ll probably put up the proper runway photos once they have been released.

One thing about this collection that I really loved was the use of geometric cut outs and prints. I think that they gave the clothes a glam warrior feel and looked gorgeous. The colours used also gave the same sense of power because they were mainly dark or neutral shades with just a few brighter colours.

Another very glam warrior aspect of the collection was the regular use of harness belts, which I think are going to be huge in spring 2013.

I was surprised when this outfit came down the run way, since it was the only one that used trousers. I really like the embellishment and nude tones with the flecks of gold. The use of pale pink for some of the pattern also makes it look as though some of the jump suit is sheer, giving the illusion of the model showing more skin than she is in reality.

As well as geometric shapes, in a few of the outfits more opulent prints were used. They still came across as extremely modern due to symmetry and not too much embellishment, and fitted well with the rest of the collection.

I just love this collection, I can't wait to see the professional pictures!Have any of you been watching New York Fashion Week?

It's a question of shoes.

Hello guys, hope you’ve all had a lovely Wednesday. I’d just like to apologise in advance for the likelihood of me posting a lot less often now that I’m back at school. I’ll update as often as I can but know that it may not be as regularly as it was during the summer. But that’s not what this post is about; in fact I need your opinions on something. It’s a very important topic and one I take extremely seriously – Shoes! I’m after a new pair but am finding is so difficult to decide between two styles.

The first style is a heeled Chelsea boot such as these –

The second is a lita boot style like these ones-

I’d really appreciate your opinions on which I should get because I’m well and truly stuck! Have any of you got either style boot, and what do you think of them? Let me know in the comments, it’s much appreciated.

Summer in review

As much as it pains me to say it, today is the last day of summer and tomorrow it’s back to school for me. None the less, this summer has been amazing and one I don’t think I’ll ever forget. There’s not been a day that I haven’t enjoyed in some way. After such an amazing 6 weeks it seems only right to re-visit the style side of things. This post is purely dedicated to looking at the clothes and styles I’ve loved and mentioned in other posts this summer.

3 pairs of new shoes:

On one of the first days of summer I bought these amazing gold heeled high tops. I just love them and have worn them so much it’s ridiculous. Next came the gold heel sandals bought for me by my lovely Dad as a treat. I wore these out to dinner twice and also just with shorts on a day-to-day basis. Finally my favourite ever shoes, the zebra print flatforms from River Island. They are just the most beautiful things on the planet!

6 pairs of up-cycled shorts:

Seeing all of these pictures together makes me realise how much time I've spent making diy jean shorts. I've loved doing this in my spare time this summer. I don't know if I could choose a favourite, but the pair that I've worn most is the velvet cross high waisted ones. The purple dip dyed shorts took the longest to make, I worked really late finishing them.

2 pairs of sunglasses:

The first pair of sunglasses pictured I've been lusting after all summer, but I know I'll never be able to afford them. I'll just keep on dreaming... The second pair I bought about mid-way through the holidays, and they've been great! They go with most outfits and work especially well when I pull my hair in to a high bun.

3 lovely outfits:

Ah my camo jacket, a summer staple of mine. I really loved how it looked with my pink velvet pencil skirt and Chelsea boots. The middle picture is my friend Kelsie, who wore one of my favourite outfits of all summer. I'm totally in love with her trousers! Plus I love the girl wearing them too. On the right is my extremely cheap, yet chic, outfit that I wore on one of the hottest days ever. The dress was thrifted, the bag from a boot fair and the shoes were Primark. What a bargain ensemble.

One plaid crush:

I will always remember this as the summer that I fell in love with 90s grunge, and especially in love with plaid fabrics.  I've got my hand on a plaid shirt recently, now I can't wait until I have enough money to buy a tartan dress. Obsession? Oh yes.
One pair of cat print lita boots:

I don't even think I need write anything much about these beauties, I mean just look at them!

Mix all of this together and you get 1 amazing summer. And this isn't even the half of it, so much has happened in the past 6 weeks that I can't even mention it all. Anyway, I hope you've all had a lovely summer too, and I hope that your time back at work/school/uni isn't too bad either.

A girl can only dream #2

I’ve once again been hit by the sadness that follows the realisation of being broke. Sure, I have plenty of clothes, but I also could have so much more! I don’t really help myself because I’m constantly looking at designer clothing websites. The majority of the time I’m able to walk away from the laptop and forget (for a while at least) about the items I’ve seen, but there are some that just stick in my mind and refuse to leave without a fight.

Here are my current obsessions:

Wildfox tartan grunge dress with flowers - £154

Preen for Aldo Floral print leather shoe boots - £145

Topshop Premium check boyfiend coat - £175

I can't get over that tartan dress, it's amazing!

B is for Beth but not for galaxy shorts.

Today I stumbled upon an amazing jewellery stall whilst out with my Dad and younger sister, and I’m wonderstruck! The stall was covered in gorgeously quirky pieces and the prices were really reasonable in my opinion. My Dad was totally lovely and treated me to a new ring.

The company is called Retro Rock Chic, and I suggest you all give it a gander. Not all of their items are on the website, so if you do happen to see them on a stall check it out because it’s so worth it. I really hope that I see the stall again at some point.
Here’s a selection of some of other Retro Rock Chick bits and bobs I love:

On a different note, I spent the later part of today making yet another pair of shorts. I gave galaxy print a go and it turned out quite well. I haven’t decided whether or not they actually look galactic like, but either way I’m pleased with the outcome. They haven’t dried completely yet so the pictures aren’t that great since they have tissue paper sticking out of the bottom (to stop the paint sinking through). I’ll try my best to put up an outfit post using them soon.

So, what do you think of my latest DIY endeavour?
