The clash:

Throw away your fashion hand books and forget everything you know about what clothes should be worn together, because pattern clashing is huge right now. In fact it’s bigger than huge, it’s massive. We all love our trusty little black dress, it’s a wardrobe staple after all, but the time has come to give it a rest and be bold!

Take a look at the catwalk and you’ll get hit by a pattern avalanche of clothes from different designers, creating the perfect opportunity to mix them together and create a masterpiece. At the autumn/winter 2012 shows Marc Jacobs did paisley, Henry Holland did dog tooth, Mary Katrantzou and McQueen did florals.  I love the idea of being able to mix two pieces together, that would usually never come within a few meters of each other, and them looking absolutely fabulous, as well as totally on trend. With tons of both high-end and high-street stores stocking patterned pieces this season, it really is the clash takeover.

It can be a daunting prospect, going against your style instinct, but the end results will be worth it. Trust me. It took me a while to get used to the idea of clashing being good, so if your still feeling a bit dazed and you’re not sure how to create this look, here’s how I would wear the trend:

Do these clothes clash?

I completely love this trend, bold is beautiful after all.
