Hey there shortie.

This summer I’ve been doing so much DIY on my clothes, it’s crazy. I was never huge on it before but I think since I’ve been blogging and looking at other blogs more often I’ve been inspired loads. I’ve improved my sewing skills in the past week quite a lot (that doesn’t mean they’re any good yet- just improved haha). My Mum has been helping me out when I’ve needed it which is great, she taught me how to re-size the jacket mentioned in yesterday’s post and today lent a hand in creating a new pair of shorts. I have so many pairs of jeans that don’t fit properly anymore meaning that making shorts isn’t any trouble at all. Today I used a pair of Next blue jeans that were too short in the leg, and cut them to the length I wanted, before adding a floral touch.

I did this by drawing on the size of the cross that I wanted on the shorts then cut it out with fabric sheers. The most tricky bit was sewing around the cross shape after pinning and tacking the floral fabric on the inner short. The addition of the pocket patch was very last minute, but I think makes them even cuter! These are so summery, they’ll look fab with an oversized shirt or a basic vest because they're high waisted. I can’t wait to wear them out. Maybe I’ll get the chance tomorrow, fingers crossed! There are a few of these style shorts on the highstreet for loads more money, so I’m really happy with the money I saved. They’re not perfect, but for a first attempt, I’m pretty proud of myself.
Thanks for reading guys,
Bethany Paige X
